ODD FACT VERSE
----------------------------

Odd Fact Verse is a collection of poems with notes, constructed from curious pieces of information. Some of the themes are: How the assassination of a prime minister aided the arts; The strange deaths of three composers from the French school; Why a variety of artists have given up art; The mass production of the French writer Augustin Eugene Scribe; The difficulty Austrian composers had in tackling a ninth symphony.

A NEOCLASSICIST’S SONG
(FIRST STANZA WITH REFRAIN)

Said Wickelmann, “I cannot find
young men with pretty knees.
The male patella’s ill-designed.
Stone forms alone can please.

Look to the Greeks, my boys.
They’ll keep you out of trouble.
Ingenious are the ploys
in Hellenistic rubble.
